The Concept IAA show car is a teaser platform to showcase the structure and technology of the newly released E-Class. The car was designed around the wind tunnel and made to transform into a slippery shape that incorporated active aerodynamics with an extremely low drag coefficient.
My design objective was to create a conceptual yet on-brand visual and interactive experience using the existing equipment we had on hand. Working closely with NVIDIA, we teased the new real-time 3D platform, which allowed you to rotate the car on screen and activate its aerodynamic functions, using our trackpad or touch displays.
The vehicle also incorporates gesture features from the interior to exterior, such as adjusting the climate control to waving your hand to open the door.
We drew inspiration from many forms, but always with
the concept of aerodynamics in mind.
Inside, the “Concept IAA” continues the
design line of the S-Class and S Class
Coupe, offers new touch-based functions and provides an idea of what the interior of a business saloon might look like in the near future.
